YOUR GUIDE

A Life-Long Passion Serving Your Experience

Portrait of David Bloyer, professional hunting guide for Trophy Rusa Deer New Caledonia. Portrait de David Bloyer, guide de chasse professionnel pour Trophy Rusa Deer Nouvelle-Calédonie.

Hello, my name is David Bloyer.

Born in New Caledonia, I have been a hunting guide for over 26 years. For more than twenty years, I shared my passion for hunting by volunteering to introduce hunters from all over the world to my region. Back then, they only covered the cost of their plane tickets: the rest of the stay was above all a human adventure, built on sharing, exchanging stories, and discovery.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of guiding fellow enthusiasts as they discovered New Caledonia’s wild landscapes, vast open spaces, and exceptional wildlife. I love passing on the hunting techniques I’ve honed through years of experience, whether stalking Rusa deer during the roar, rifle hunting, or bowhunting.

One of my specialties is calling—using game calls to interact with stags during the roar and experience moments of extraordinary intensity. I also place great importance on stealth. I favor the quietest possible stalks, to the point where some of my hunter friends nicknamed me the ‘Bigfoot Hunter‘, as I often hunt barefoot to avoid making any sound.

All of these encounters have given me the opportunity to travel, connect with hunters from diverse cultures, and perfect my English—a real asset today when welcoming international clients.

Recent years were marked by Covid and then by local events in New Caledonia. However, this challenging period allowed me to bring a project close to my heart to life: launching Trophy Rusa Deer, building a trusted partner network, and finally turning my lifelong passion into a career.

Today, I put over two decades of experience at my clients’ service to take them through New Caledonia’s finest hunting grounds. Observing animal behavior, choosing the right approach, and sharing my local knowledge are what make every trip unique.

If you are looking for an authentic experience rooted in respect for nature and hunting traditions, I would be delighted to welcome you and create unforgettable memories in the heart of New Caledonia.

TESTIMONIALS

They Experienced Trophy Rusa Deer

Enthusiasts from New Caledonia, Europe, and North America share their experiences in the field.

I followed David up the muddy track and through the farm gate.
He was “camoed up” but bare footed. He explained that he always hunts in bare feet, for the stealth. There are very few bities and prickles in the New Caledonian forest.
We passed the farm shed and David peered carefully over the crest in case any deer were in the dead ground.
Well up the gully system two or more stags were calling. They were a fair way away but not too far; a “fair wee way” as a New Zealander might say. It was a new noise to me, similar to a red deer but deeper. The call was a lot more assertive than a Fallow deer grunt and had a sad note to it.
We turned down a side track to the west and started a short descent. There were deer tracks everywhere in the mud.
David travelled very slowly. I followed, trying to match his footfalls as best I could.
He stopped and gave a long, low blow on the washing machine hose.
Suddenly the grass on our right parted and a Rusa doe sprang onto the road. She stood for a second looking at us, decided we were not the man of her dreams, jinked, and ran, stage left.
She was only a few metres away. I could see her eyelashes.
David smiled and said, “Welcome to New Caledonia.”

Robert - AUSTRALIA

We had an incredible father/son hunt with David in August 2023. His experience as a hunter, angler, and outdoorsman was obvious from the moment we met him in Nouméa. Our trip was hosted by a wonderful family where we enjoyed delicious home-cooked meals and shared many great laughs.
The Rusa hunting was the best deer rut hunting either my father or I have ever experienced. Being able to call in and interact with the stags was extremely exciting, and the number of deer on the property was impressive. We were both fortunate to harvest beautiful stags, and as an added bonus, we were also able to harvest two turkeys.
We also added some fishing opportunities while in New Caledonia, which were fantastic and a great way to round out the trip. David is an expert guide, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an extremely enjoyable Rusa hunt in New Caledonia.
